The Reelmaster 5010-H is the industry's first and only fairway mower with a true hybrid drive system.
Its Kubota diesel engine, in-line motor generator and a self-recharging 48-volt battery pack work together to provide seamless power to the vehicle and cutting units. The combination of these two power sources comprises Toro's patented PowerMatch hybrid power delivery system.
PowerMatch enables the Reelmaster 5010-H to match the power generated to the power required for all cutting conditions. The result is the availability of over 29.9kW (40hp), but only when cutting conditions require it, saving on average 20 percent in fuel usage, improving operating costs and the vehicle's carbon footprint.
With over 29.9 kW (40 hp) available, the PowerMatch system can handle verticutting, scalping, and steep hills. Power is used so efficiently through the PowerMatch™ system that the Reelmaster 5010-H can perform at least on-par, and in many cases better than much higher horsepower machines. Three years of vigorous field and real-world testing have proven the Reelmaster 5010-H has the power to perform in the most rigorous golf course conditions, and the efficiency to keep it up year after year.
The battery pack is made up of four, 12-volt, Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries that are maintenance-free and sealed. The batteries are very similar to the ones used in the automobile industry for start-stop hybrids. These batteries are designed for a very long life when they are shallowly discharged and repeatedly recharged with a system like our PowerMatch™. Depending on usage, the life expectancy will vary, but in an average golf course duty cycle, the battery pack can be expected to last over 2,500 hours of operation.
Removing the hydraulic cutting mowers and replacing them with electric motors on the Reelmaster 5010-H resulted in over 100 fewer leak points than a conventional 254 cm fairway mower. The remaining vehicle and cutting unit lift system hydraulic lines are predominately hard lines or hoses with limited movement, and are not subject to the same fatigue or service intervals as the cutting unit hoses and motors.
The Reelmaster 5010-H has a Plug and Play feature that allows it to accept 12.7 cm or 17.8 cm diameter DPA cutting units. Simply plug in the cutting unit and motors of your choice and the machine automatically make all the necessary adjustments. The 5010-H can be equipped with 12.7 cm or 17.8 cm reels, in either 8 or 11 blade configurations.
The electric reel motors allow for precise setting of the clip and consistent power across all five cutting units for a superior cut. The cutting units also feature low-drag seals and low-friction bearing which improve wear and reduce the required horsepower to run the decks.
The Reelmaster 5010-H’s InfoCenter display will actually make maintenance and diagnostics quicker and easier for technicians. The on-board LCD display provides system information alerts, service reminders, diagnostics, fault codes and vehicle and cutting unit adjustments that are easy to see and understand. Precisely control reel speed and clip rate, monitor reel performance and view reel diagnostics with the on-board InfoCenter.
